Renee Polak of the
Design Center and Dawn Schramer of FCA of
Naperville recently furnished a model home in Naperville for Pattermann
Builders, which has yielded great exposure for both stores! The home is part of
the Naperville Dream Home Walk in Ashwood
Park, and Renee has been at the house to field questions from visitors and
distribute Design Center literature.
The lead began with Dawn, who works in the builder department of FCA of
Naperville and handled the installation of flooring in the home. She furnished
the home with beautiful Brazilian walnut in the family room, Masala II dark
green carpet in the living and dining rooms, and Heavenly Touch 710 in the
bedrooms. She also put Mohawk's Isle of Capri caramel tile in the bathroom, and
used Greek Key marble for the border in the shower and as a wall base. In the
kitchen, she created a backsplash using Molten Stone glass inserts.
Renee handled furnishings and accessories in the house, utilizing several of the
Design Center's beautiful pieces. In the living room, she put elegant armless
chairs from Lane Venture and a couch from Sherrill. The family room got a warm
touch with cuddle chairs from Lane Venture, and she used accent pieces from
renowned manufacturer Theodore Alexander throughout the house.
"This has been an excellent opportunity to show potential clients what the
Design Center and FCA of Naperville have to offer together," said Renee.
"Several visitors were familiar with FCA but didn't know about the Design
Center, and I was able to explain to them how both stores work together to
provide the complete interior design package."
Renee found that working on the model home was different than working with
residential clients. With them, the goal is to make their home a reflection of
their personal taste and style. With a builder’s model home, the approach
requires a different mindset.
"As a designer, I have to respect the builder's goal of showcasing his home to a
variety of people," said Renee. “So, my goal is to highlight what features the
house has to offer such as floor space, room layout and function, crown molding,
etc. My interior decorating has to enhance the architectural features of the
home and appeal to the masses, while at the same time showcasing how working
with an interior designer can give your home that wow factor."
The Pattermann model house will be open through this Sunday, July 15, so you
still have an opportunity to stop by and see it for yourself! It will be open to
visitors from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
